14 Mozart Works You Probably Know (or Should!)

Mozart is one of the most recognisable names in classical music, with an output revered and appreciated by audiences past and present.

Born in Salzburg in 1756 to a musical family, he showed signs of a rare musical talent from an early age (writing his first composition aged just 6). Despite his untimely death in 1791, at just 35 years of age, his output totalled over 600 works including operas, symphonies and chamber works to name just a few. Many of these works are as infamous as his name, and remain popular in society today.

The playlist below highlights 15 of Mozart's most recognisable works. In many of these you will hear the archetype classical style (for which Mozart became synonymous with): an emphasis on balance, simple harmony, homophonic textures and clearly marked cadence points. Make sure to read the blog on "Features of the Classical Period" to read more about musical features during this time.
