Frequently asked questions
What time are the live sessions?
The live sessions will take place from 6:00-8:00pm (BST) everyday. These sessions are optional, but I encourage all members to attend if they can.
What if I can't make a live session?
Ideally all live sessions are attended to give you the best chance of success at the end of the week. However, life is busy and sometimes things happen. If you know one day is going to be difficult for you, please let me know when you sign up so I can make sure you receive any missed information.
Do you have to be a certain standard to join?
If you're aiming to take your Grade 5 Theory exam at the end of the week, you should be able to play at a Grade 4 level on your instrument when the 5-day course starts. If you're not at this level, you're still welcome to join, but I recommend taking additional time after the accelerator course to consolidate your knowledge.
Can adults take this course?
Absolutely! This course is open to anyone who wants to pass their exam quickly. Depending on numbers, there may be a "Junior" and "Senior" group to keep age groups similar.
Is the exam cost included in the price?
The exam price is not included in the price because you need to book your exam under your own name and account on the ABRSM website. All information on booking your exam is included in the course.
I haven't passed Grade 4 music theory, can I still join?
You don't need to have passed your Grade 4 music theory, but you do need to be able to play at a Grade 4 level on an instrument. This requirement ensures that you have a solid foundation in music theory, enabling you to process information quickly while still comprehending the concepts.
Can I sign my child up to the course? They're younger than 10.
Absolutely! I always recommend that younger students are accompanied by a parent or guardian during live sessions. This not only aids in understanding as you both learn the material together but also provides encouragement for the student to complete worksheets between sessions.
